This Deafening Whisper
How would you describe your sound and lyric style?
Basically, we play metal with influences of core, hardcore and post-hardcore blended with orchestral elements. From the start, we really wanted to breathe a cinematic feeling into our compositions and band image, so our videos, lyrics, artwork and orchestral parts and intermissions really tend to follow that direction.
Lyrically, let’s say that each album is its own thing. Our first EP (A Matter of Knife and Depth) was pretty much like a movie from start to the end, taking place in Chicago during prohibition. Then, Duodecim explored the darkness, insecurities and fear of super heroes.
Who are your main influences?
August Burns Red, The Devil Wears Prada, Underoath, Bring Me the Horizon, Architects are big influences on our songs. But, to a lesser extent, I would also like to include Danny Elfmann, Hans Zimmer, Muse, Thrice and Linkin Park
What are you working on now?
This year, we have been really secretive and have kind of disconnected ourselves from social media life, but we posted a teaser last June, announcing big things coming up this September – stay tuned to find out more!
Are you touring now?
Not at the moment. We’ve been focusing on composing and learning to work with the new line up, but the end of 2014 and 2015 will allow us to go back on the road. Honestly, I can’t wait for that! We spent some of the best moments together during our Russia-Ukraine-Poland-Belarus tour last year.
What can people expect at your live gigs?
We try to give all that we have at every show. We’ve always tried to share with the audience the raw energy that our songs carry, and nothing pleases me as much as the excitement of playing in front of a crowd that jumps, screams and mosh with us.
