FEATURE ARTIST: STATIC FICTION

STATIC FICTION

Introduce yourself and your music:
Hi I’m Ryan. The bass player from Static Fiction

How would you describe your sound and lyric style?
We’re pop/punk band. Our style of music and lyrics are all about having a good time. Think if the Beach Boys got freaky one night with Blink 182, Green Day, and the Offspring. Bam you got us.

Who are your main influences?
We take what we feel is the best of each band. Vocal melodies and harmonies of the Beach Boys, powerful guitar sounds and tones like early pop punk version of our favorite bands but make them as powerful as Queen or Journey. Really try and reach out to everyone we play to. From our biggest fan in the front to the newest fan way in the back.

What else inspires you?
We want to write music that will have that same impact that we had when we were a kid. Any musician will tell you that there’s one song that really touched them growing up and made them go out to a music shop and pick up a guitar, drums, etc. I want to be able and the chance to do that to somebody. Returning the favor you might say.

What are you working on now?
Right now we’re writing for our new EP that will hopefully be release early next year. We’re working with Steve Kravac this time. He produced all the bands we loved growing up. From MxPx, Blink 182, Less Than Jake – I mean the list goes on and on.

What can people expect at your live gigs?
Paul singing his lungs out, myself singing the harmonies while jumping all over the stage, Justin blistering up and down the neck, and Kyle beating the drums harder and faster than Animal from the Muppets. He reminds me of a early Buddy Rich. It’s a pleasure working with these guys everyday.
