I’m not going to lie. Mindless Self Indulgence are a band that are relatively new to me; so naturally when I sat down with their new album How I learned To Stop Giving A Shit And Love Mindless Self Indulgence  I was caught a little off guard.  A rapid mix of hip hop beats, punk rock riffs and fast paced vocals, this album will definitely get you moving [think MC Lars on steroids.]

The records opening track Witness stays true to the album’s title – an onslaught of lyrics that scream ‘we don’t give a fuck’ coupled with a mix that really challenges the genre specifics. Hey Tomorrow Fuck You And Your Friend Yesterday kicks the pace up, with catchy electronic tunes that would feel more at home in a Game Boy rendition of life than in the here and now. At a whopping fourteen tracks the album just gets better and better, Ass Backwards incorporates a little old school rap and some questionable sound effects whilst the album as a whole exhibits influence from a range of different eras whist still managing to keep things fresh.

How I Learned To Stop Giving A Shit’s biggest accomplishment is its ability to switch and change its overall sound. Each track boasts a crazy fun uniqueness that keeps you dancing on your toes.  This record needs to be played loud and clear and if you‘re into a hardcore mix of electronic dance and punk rock then this record is definitely worth picking up.

  1. This is a good review. I had read it and approve of the contents. It is more insightful than most reviews of this record, as many of them sound like they were written by silly little babies. Yours does not. Thank you.
